Warranty for Device that keeps Breaking

Does the Warranty restart for 12 months every time a cell phone is replaced under warranty?

I got a new Palm Centro in March, and in June it stopped working correctly (the speaker and microphone didn't work). I got a new replacement under warranty, and it broke down, same defect at the end of October. I just got a new replacement under warranty, but I suspect it will break down in a few months. Does the warranty get extended every time for 12 months, from the time I receive the replacement, or after March next year I will not receive a replacement anymore?

Re: Warranty for Device that keeps Breaking

Warranty is 1 year from the original purchase date or a minimum of 3 months - whichever is longer.

So...

You technically have until March, but, for example, if your phone is replaced in February, you have 3 months from the time it is replaced.  If anything happens within that 3 months, you are covered.  If something happens 4 months later, you have to pay for an out-of-warranty replacement unit.

Also, "breaking" implies physical damage.  Damage isn't covered under warranty.  Something like "malfunctioning" would imply electrical defect...the kind of thing that is covered.

Re: Warranty for Device that keeps Breaking

PhoneGuy,

thanks for the reply, and explaining the technical difference between breaking and malfunctioning.

I know it's a mechanical malfunction: it's the earphone connector that after a number of times of pluging and unplugging has a contact that loses elesticity. The phone at that point thinks I have an earplug in. But even with the earplug pluged in I cannot hear nor talk because of the bad contact. After the first malfunction I thought it was bad luck, but now twice in a row I think it's the vendor to Palm for the component, that is obviously manufacturing a poor connector. Those components are normally designed for a life of 10,000 insertions. Mine probably experienced 50. Is there anything like a lemmon law for cell phones? I'd love to replace the model, even paying a small difference for a better model, but Verizon said it was not possible.
