Subscribing to a Thread
The value in subscribing to elements of the forums is members can stay abreast of updates to topic they care about without actually logging onto the forums. For example, if a community member creates a thread asking how to configure a mobile device, you can be notified automatically whenever someone responds to the thread. Community members can subscribe to threads, forums, search results, and even posts from specific community members.
Community Members can subscribe to the forums in one or two ways:
|
Via Email |
From the Board/Thread you wish to subscribe from, click
the Board/thread options menu and select “Subscribe to this Board”. In addition, you can set your preferences
for the emailed content, such, as, whether to receive notifications
immediate, daily weekly; whether the system should send the entire post or
just the subject, or whether the system should send the emails as plain text
or HTML. |
|
Via RSS |
From the Board/Thread you wish to subscribe from, click the Board/thread options menu and select “Subscribe to this Board’s RSS Feed”. Your RSS reader will control the display of the board’s contents. There are several RSS readers available – most of them are free. A Google search for “free rss reader” should bring back dozens. |
Community Members can turn off subscription via their Profile Page (Email subscriptions only) or by using the Board/Thread menu option and choose Unsubscribe.
