As most of you know, I’m fairly new to the Verizon Forums, so when I was asked to find a member of our community to highlight, I was thrilled! This gave me a great reason to dive into the boards and check people out- which satisfies my nosiness. After pouring through the boards, I finally made the really tough decision to narrow things down and talk to Somegirl.
Heather_VZ: Hi Somegirl, thanks so much for agreeing to be highlighted this month! Tell me, how long have you been a Verizon customer and what Verizon services do you have?
Somegirl: Roughly 5 years. I lived in one location where we had FiOS (at my insistence), then moved somewhere that it wasn't available for a while. Now I'm back living in a FiOS area. Woohoo!
Heather_VZ: Lucky dog- FiOS isn’t available in my area yet. Do you love it?
Somegirl: I love FiOS internet! We have temporarily added a few more gamers to our household, so we're considering upping the speed on our package. We work odd hours and really have no time for TV, so it seemed a waste of money (for us, nothing wrong with the service when you have time to use it!). We get by with Netflix and Hulu, which stream flawlessly on our FiOS connection.
Heather_VZ: That’s awesome! So what got you coming to the Verizon Forums?
Somegirl: I like helping people. It's what pushed me towards a career in Network Support. I like that here I can help people who are fed up with calling in, or who may not even know what their issue is. I also much prefer a peer-to-peer relationship vs. an official "Tech Support Agent" role. It gives more wiggle room on what you can suggest (like 3rd party software) and makes it ok in the event that I don't actually have the answer. I also love learning from the other knowledgeable posters here. The more I learn, the more I can help in the future.
Heather_VZ: We love having you here- your insight and help has really benefited a lot of people on the boards. What’s your favorite board to frequent?
Somegirl: The top is definitely the Verizon.net Email board. My past experience supporting it gives me some knowledge that others might not have, but I'm more than willing to share. I help in the HSI and FiOS Internet boards where I can.
Heather_VZ: When you’re not helping out around here, what do you like to do for fun?
Somegirl: I have a little girl, and she eats up the vast majority of my time. I love to read. I'm just purchased and am currently reading Those Across the River by Christopher Buehlman. I am working hard to instill the same love of reading in my daughter, though with considerably more kid-friendly books. In the rare instances that I have free time and no book to read, I play World of Warcraft (For the Horde!).
Heather_VZ: Thanks so much for talking with me! It’s been a pleasure getting to know you!
