Community Spotlight: Introducing Our New Admin!

Thank you for all the great posting and participation in 2010.  I can hardly believe January is nearly over.  I am excited to see that we are off to a great start for 2011.  Just like last year, you can expect your Community Beat Blog to continue to be the same place you hear from your community managers on whatever “community topics” that meet our fancy.  We’ll weigh in on hot community discussions, tell you the latest about new community functionality, give you tips on how to use existing functionality, and discuss social media interests.

 

I have to say my favorite feature in the Community Beat is when someone on the community management team gets to randomly select a community member for a community spotlight. I just love finding out more about “who” lives here.

 

I was getting ready to randomly select someone to spotlight and I thought that maybe, just maybe...you might have noticed a new admin badge poking around the community.  BeckyS is our newest addition to the Community Admin/Management team.  While she may be new to our community she is not new to Verizon or to community for that matter. 

 

So, over a virtual cup of coffee this is what I found out about BeckyS.

Jaime Lee:  “How long have you been a Verizon Customer?”

 

BeckyS:  “I started out as a Verizon Wireless customer back in the late 90s.”

 

Jaime Lee:  “What boards do you find yourself mostly visiting, thus far?”

 

BeckyS:  “I'm trying to spend time on all of the boards, familiarizing myself with the content and our fabulous community members. In the near future, you'll probably find me most frequently on the Idea Exchange.”

 

Jaime Lee:  Why do you think you will enjoy being part of the Verizon Community?

 

BeckyS:  I've worked with several types and sizes of communities over the years. I love how on top of things our moderators are - they are terrific. So helpful! As an admin, I can't tell you how important it is to have good moderators helping you out. And our users? Outstanding. What a great group we have here! There are some really knowledgeable people here and they go out of their way to post helpful responses or point people to the right resources. I'm looking forward to interacting on the boards more and getting to know our community members better.

 

Jaime Lee:  When you aren't visiting the Verizon Community, what are you doing for fun?

 

BeckyS:  Fun? What's this thing you refer to? I think I'll remember what that is once I no longer have small children underfoot. :smileyhappy: I've been known to cast a line or two (both freshwater and saltwater fishing). I also like to read, write, and dabble in tech-y stuff (but many of y'all put my technical knowledge to shame). I'm a huge social media junkie, too.

 

 Well, there you have it…another community spotlight.
