I cant find which forum I should be using but I have a HUGE problem!  Verizon came out and installed FIOS and I was told that everything was left as before.  When I went to go onto my home network, I could not!  No help from Verizon other than subscribe to the premium service for a $150 committment!

I have a westell 9100EM15-10 router.  I can access my router and see the computers taht are on the network, but they have a "?" at each of them.  I cannot configure my home network or access my printer from my network.  I have tried to figure out how to configure a bridge to add my Linksys WRT600N router but have not been successful in doing so.

Does anyone out there have any suggestions in how to set up my home network running Vista?  It was running fine until FIOS was installed!

I have a feeling that the TV boxes (I have 2 - one a HD DVR and the other a non-dvr HD) are on their own network and I that is why I cannot get my laptom and desktop networked.

My guess would be that the change is in the way the router assigns IP addresses. When you first set up your internal network, you were using Linksys. Linksys uses 192.168.1.1 as an internal network address the same as the verizon router. But where they differ is on the DHCP address assignments. Linksys starts handing out addresses starting with 192.168.1.101 and the Verizon router starts off with 192.168.1.2.  So if your network was using static ip addressing to route to the differnet computers, the ranges would be different. I would start there, check your computers/network to see what addressing scheme they used on the inside

if you set your computers and printer to 'receive IP address automatically', then reboot them, the verizon router will assign them new IP addresses and then everything on your network will be in the same network.

My computers are already set to obtain IP address automatically and yet no network can be connected.  I think I am going to have to figure out how to bridge the 9100 so I can connect my linksys wrt600n wireless router to the verizon router, but have been told I have to change the IP address of the linksys router as the verizon router is set for the same IP address as the linksys. 

My frustration has reached to such a level as I am having an IT friend to hopefully come over and help me out with this VERY frustrating situation!

Has anyone else out there has had the same problem as me and if so, how did they resolve this problem of not being able to set up a home network after verizon installed FIOS????

Have you tried, simply re-running your "setup a home network" type utilities that are built into windows, now that all of your computers are on a new network?

I have but when I do, I get a message that network detected but cant connect.  I have a trial copy of Linksys Network Magic and going to try and run that and see if I am successful.

something is blocking it.   To rule out any previous changes that you may have made to the router, do a hard reset to the router which resets all defaults on the router.  (hold in the 'reset' button for about 15 seconds)

SUCCESS!  I have Norton 350 installed and discovered that I had to set my network settings to "FULL TRUST".  After I did that, my network is now available and I was able to map my network drives as I had them networked before!  Don't know how the settings were changed from the original settings but they had.  I discovered this when I installed Network Magic by Cisco.  In their installation isntructions, they showed how to make sure that this setting was correct.

Hopefully this will help any one else that is having problems with network detection running Norton 360!
