FiOS Internet slooow

I now have had FiOs Internet for about 4 years. I am happy to say I have never had a problem. The service has been wonderfully reliable. Recently I upgraded to 75/35 and was pleased to run speed tests confirming these speeds. Indeed several times the speed exceeded them.

Now the bad news. In the last couple of weeks I have noticed a degradation in service. The speeds were still up there, but there were interuptions where the Internet connection would drop. Still the speeds held up and the drops were few and far between.

The drops seemed to increase in frequency in the last week. Still it was functional.

Then Sunday evening around 10 p.m. EDT (I'm in DC) FiOS dropped completely, nothing, nada. While I was frantically attempting to logon via AT&T wireless iPad, FiOS made a brief appearance around 10:15 p.m. and then disappeared again, this time for good.

I called tech support and was on hold for one hour. I gave up and went to bed. In the middle of the night I awoke and was happy to learn FiOS was back. I was distrubed, however, that throughout the process I went to the 'outages' page and there was nothing. These forums (via AT&T wireless, thank G_D) there were a few posts noticing outages.

Now my complaint is this, instead of 75/35 the best I can get is 30/30. I'm sure this isn't what the news was heralding today as the new Verizon perk of symmetrical up/download speeds!!!!

Is anyone else having these problems??? I've been a happy camper until two weeks ago when the service has seriously degraded and without explanation.

And, no, nothing has changed in my house pre/post that would account for the degradation in service, unless, of course, it is Verizon's own equipment. Please let me know if you are having same/similar problems.

Thank you for the suggestion. I just called Verion FiOS tech support. The gentleman went off-line for a minute and came back asking me to recycle the router, close and reopen the browser and perform a speed test. I'm happy to say my download speed is in excess of 75 Mbps (hit 83 tops). I asked what he did. His answer was, "I refreshed the connections to your router.' I asked if that was the same as 'provisioning.' His answer was indirect. Provisioning, he said, was making sure their settings for speed matched the account information. Whatever. I'm now getting what I paid for. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yep me too.  My download speed is about half as I had before the symmetric upgrade.

Have Verizon double check your provisioning and see what happened. Also, do you know what model ONT you have?
