Our daughter received a tablet for Christmas and I am trying to figure out which wireless network connection is mine.Can someone help me figure this out? For example there is a Wi-Fi network that shows up on her new tablet named "MWXG1". The strength bars say "Excellent". Is that my wireless network connection here at my home? I have a Verizon "MI424WR" router. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Try the serial number of the router as the admin password.

The first line on my router reads: ActionTec MI424-WR Rev. F

None of those. Assuming you have a rev. I (you didn't say), it should be on the first line which should read:Actiontec rev. I User name: admin Password: whateverEnter the user name in the user name field.Enter the password in the password field of the Actiontec login page.The password is case sensitive.Ignore any extra dots that appear as you type the password.

The "SSID" is the network name. You'll also need the passphrase to connect There are several options to learn how your network is setup:Look at the label on the router for the WiFi SSID and passphrase.Login to "My Verizon," it will report the SSID and the passphrase.If you have FiOS TV, use the network settings wizard and it will show the SSID and passphrase.The best thing you can do is:Click http://192.168.1.1 to connect directly to your router.Login using the user name "admin" and the router password from the label (note this is not the WiFi passphrase).Go to the WiFi settings and change the SSID to something you'll remember. It can be anything, although I suggest avoiding names like "Smith Family".Set the security to WPA2 if it isn't already chosen (this is under advanced settings).Choose your own passphrase. It doesn't have to be a random set of characters.Enjoy your new toys!

The default SSID (ESSID) of your router is printed on the service label.

Look at the value after "ESSID." For example, you'll see something like this:

ESSID: WYX4T

WYX4T is your network name.

To make things easy, just use your device's auto-scan function and sit next to the router while setting up the device. Your router will show up as the network with the strongest signal.
