Future Availability

We're currently moving to an area that doesn't have FiOS, and are sad that we have to give it up.  But I thought that Verizon had a list of planned future cities, but can't find it. And when I called, the operator said that they get no advanced warning either and the only thing to do was to sign up for the notifications online, and I'd get emailed.

You didn't give any indication of where you're moving.

Verizon has stopped rolling out FIOS to new areas in order to concentrate on completing builds in NYC, Philly and Washington DC; in addition Verizon is trying to increase subscriber uptake in existing areas.

You might find this map helpful to identify areas that have FIOS.

Sorry.  Lowell, MA. I've been told there's been VZ trucks laying fiber one town north, in Dracut, as well as rumors that Dracut will be getting FiOS. But I went to your link and there's no one in the area that currently has it, which I figured anyway.
