When connecting to a certain game server I experience signifigant loss and choke.

Maybe I'm wrong here but it looks like this connection is being routed through Atlanta to go to Washington D.C.?

I live in Va. about 1.5 hours from Washington D.C. Then there is one hop where it shoots up to 229ms?

Can anyone explain whats happening here and why?

Its not important many servers severely lower the priority of the kind or responses used by Tracert.  Part of an attempt to avoid denial of service attack.  If the response from latter sites goes down to a reasonable number it is almost certainly not going to be a problem,

And of course that server, if it is a problem, is not part of Verizon.

Okay, can you tell me anything about this server,  ge-4-3-0-0.ATL01-BB-RTR2.verizon-gni.net [130.81
.29.114], does the ATL indicate it's in Atlanta?
