Hello. I have the actiontec MI424WR rev. I
I live in a 2 level home. Due to the location of our coax cables, the router in located in the upper level of the in the farthest right room of the house. I am having issues with a weak signal in the lower level farthest left room. We have virtually no signal in that room. We have the 75/35 Quantum internet. Moving the router in out of the question due to where my coax cable is located.
I tried all the router channels with no increase to the wireless signal in the lower level rooms.
To attempt to extend my wireless signal, I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0034CQSKW/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It did nothing.
I also bought this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E98O7GC/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. This didnt work either. It wouldnt let any devices connect to the internet while in use.
I read that there are repeaters, range extenders and other routers that COULD work.
If anyone has any devices that I could buy to increase my wireless signal, please let me know.
Also, if you have any intructions that I could follow to increase my wireless signal, that would be helpful.
I am considering buying this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005UBNGY6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Should I get the range extender listed above, buy a different one or do something else to increase my wifi signal?

This is what I use in my house. It works like a charm. http://www.shopactiontec.com/collections/for-verizon-customers/products/wcb3000n It works off of a coax wire on another floor and uses the existing SSID and wireless password as your Rev I router. Order it from here it is cheaper. https://teleproducts.verizon.com/fios/index.cfm/eh/DisplayDetails

Thanks, Telcoguru. Just bought one of these from TigerDirect yesterday (it doesn't seem to be on the Verizon site any more -- $99 at Tiger Direct) and it solved a problem I've had getting Internet to the back of my house for over a decade. And it solved it in under 5 minutes! Couldn't be happier.

FWIW, that link that Telcoguru showed worked here just now.
I've been thinking about trying a WCB300n and decided to give it a go. I ordered from that Verizon link at a price of $74.99 plus tax and shipping.

Ah, this has almost the same ID as the one I bought...(WCB3000N VS. WCB3000N01) Mine is Actiontec branded, not Verizon. It also includes a splitter in the box as well as two ethernet cables and a short piece of coax. Maybe that accounts for the price difference, but it's hard to tell.

Sounds like you didn't go wrong.
Hope the new toy works for both of us.

Just coax will connect the device to your FiOS network. You can use an inexpensive coax splitter to feed the WCB3000 and whatever else the coax was already feeding, probably a TV.
With coax connected you'll have WiFi output as well as Ethernet output through the two RJ-45 ports available.

Update:
WCB3000N was just delivered. I had it up and running in about 10 minutes. It's feeding two devices via the its Ethernet ports. They work fine as does the 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz WiFi.
FWIW, as I prefer to do, I changed the SSIDs being broadcast by the 3000N to unique ID's, so I can tell which network I'm actually connected to. I also changed the 2.4 Ghz channel to one that doesn't conflict with the other 2 WAPs in our house.
Bottom line....I'm smiling.
