Port Forward Problem and Caller ID

Hello all -

I need to access my home network from the outside using my Actiontec MI424WR Rev E. using SSH.  I have a Linux computer in my local network running SSH listening on port 22.  I created a simple port forward rule on the router to forward port 22 traffic to the Linux computer.  All worked perfectly until i noticed that my caller id on the all my TVs stopped working.

To make a long story short, Verizon Tech Support said that while i can craeate my own port forwarding rules once I do so I am no longer supported.  So they reset my router and caller ID is back but I am now unable to connect to my home network from outside.

Has anyone succesfully setup ssh with port forwarding and not killed verizon services?  Thanks so much
