Remote Desktop Connection

I have intermittent ability to connect to an old computer using Remote Desktop Connection.  The computer is on the same workgroup and can get to the internet.  The monitor died and I have a new computer, so I would like to use remote desktop connection to use the computer.  It works sometimes and I can connect, but then I try again later and it doesn't work.

I can ping using the ip address (which I find using ipconfig on remote computer), but I can't using the computer name.

The source computer is vista, the target computer is xp pro sp3.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Remote Desktop Connection

Can they be placed next to each other so that you can use a 2 port KVM ?
