SpeedMatch Free Offered but not to all

I have been a Verizon customer for over 25 years. From dialup to DSL to FIOS. The resent offer of "SPEED MATCH" was very interesting so I applied only to be told that my current speed is 50/20 did not fall into being qualified for the free upgrade to 50/50. It would be required to take a new 2 year contract with additional 10 - 20 dollar increase. There advertisement of course states differently as we all know. There is no need for this company to be deceptive and it would not break them to comply with their offer or remove it. Retention center offered no solution. Anyone with a similar issue?

It might be because the ONT that you are on can not handle the new speed,. Do you know what model ONT you have? Once I know the model number I can tell you for sure if that is the reason.

This is not the case. My Optical Network Terminal is not a problem. Verizon states that my present speed of 50/20 is a dated and if I had 50/25 the upgrade to 50/50 could be applied. This makes no sense to me. If I can be upgraded to the 50/50 if take a new contract, then it is possible under their promotional. The only problem I see is Verizon policy.

Actually it could be true. You may still need a new ONT.  Just because they say they can apply the upgrade doesn't mean they won't have to send someone out to replace the ONT as well. It depends if its a BPON or GPON ONT. As asked what model do you have or what year was it installed?

7300 / 7340 ISAM FTTU SYSTEM GPON. BVM7R00ARA    ALCLA0BIECB2.

This is the information on my ONT. I have no idea what this stands for.

Says gpon on it so yes it does look like you don't need a new one and Verizon is just making it so you have to sign a new deal to get the upgrade. I'd be a bit upset with the answer they gave you as well especially since you have a gpon ont already.

You have a Alcatel GPON ONT.  Your ONT is not the issue.

I must admit that I'm reluctant to change ISP but this action on Verizon’s part is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. It might be somewhat of an inconvenience for me because I've had my Verizon account for such a long time but maybe another ISP might satisfy my needs and for much less.
