Variable internet speed

Have been getting slow speeds with my FIOS internet.  Installed new Verizon router.  Now, often better, but the DOWLOAD speeds are very variable on my newest computer.  Data

      Computer #1 is the one connected to the router

                     #2 is a laptop

                     #3 is the new desktop that I am concerned about

               Thursday  March 24

What's going on?  My computer? my adaptor?  my karma?

I'm assuming that machine is wireless?  is that right ?   

If it is, then try to follow these instructions - it might just be normal wireless interference.

I solved the problem by unplugging my wireless adaptor, connecting it to a long usb cable and draping it over a picture on the wall. Apparently the extra height helped.  Now my download speeds are in the range of 12 to 20 .
