WPA

I have 1 computer that will not link up to the router, I think it's because it does not support WPA2, my only option on the drop down screen is WPA. can I upgrade to WPA2 somehow?

Re: WPA

What hardware revision of the router do you have?

Only the ancient rev. A does not support WPA2.

If you have a rev. A, call VZ and ask for a router that supports WPA2.

Re: WPA

If your computer does not have a network adapter that supports wpa2, then you would have to replace that adapter.  Note  WPA running AES is nearly as secure as WPA2.  WPA running TKIP is a broken security although harder to break tha WEP.  Many routers running WPA2 will also accept WPA running AES.

Re: WPA

Also, check with the driver manufacturer for the wireless you have ... some vendors have added additional support in newer drivers for WPA/AES and WPA2.

Re: WPA

Thanks for the quick response, the problem however is not the router, it's the computer, my only option on the drop down menu is WPA,, it does not have an option for WPA2. It finds the router in a seaech, but it will not accept the passkey.

Re: WPA

What Operating System

Note it is most likely your Network adapter and/or its driver does not support WPA2.

Re: WPA

If you're running anything older than Windows XP Service Pack 2 (eg, SP1, Stock version of XP or Windows 2000) you will need to either upgrade/change the operating system for WPA2. if you've already got a new enough operating system, you're looking at a new adapter/updated driver for the adapter.
