I signed up verizon FIOS Internet a year ago, now I cancelled it and I received a notice that I should return my fios router as it is verizon property. But I noticed that on my contract it says,
Wireless Router @ $139.99 Fee Waived
It is like I paid it for $0. Why do verizon thinks it is still their property?

How long did you agree to in your contract?

Is there some reason you want to keep it?
In its prime it was only a middle of the road piece of technology and lacking 5 Ghz and AC capabilities time has passed it by.
Since it is set up to support MOCA using it with another ISP will require some doing. Its best use might be to configure it as an AP extending WiFi signals from your new router.

It sounds like they gave it to you as a rental and the $139.99 was just the price they charged for their routers at the tiime which was waived and is how they listed it on the contract. It was their verbage for billing purposes.
If you didn't buy the router out right yourself then you don't own it. There's no way they would have given you a free router to keep.
If you still feel you own it then just call them and they will tell you if you own it or not.
