I finally got it working ok. For some reason the verizon mail servers would not accept my password. I did a password reset and now it seems to be working ok. My sincere thank you to you all for your help.

incoming.verizon.net

outgoing.verizon.net

Have outgoing server authenication on (on a mac you should see a dropdown and see "password" as one of the options).

Username

Password

That's pretty much it.

yeah, but now the whole email address has to go in as the user name, and if you are using yahoo as your portal, the servers are incoming.yahoo.verizon.net and outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net.  HTH!

So far I've tried...

incoming.verizon.net

incoming.yahoo.verizon.net  .... it's the same with outgoing...

neither will work...

Not sure what errors you are getting with it, but having password for authentication is a must.  Also, you might want to disable SSL on both the incoming and outgoing servers.  I have heard that doesn't work well with SSL on Apples.

Oh yeah it doesn't work with SSL at all.. and the incoming port # should be 110 and outgoing should be 25.  I think u have to click advanced

I tried everything, nothing seems to work. I had no problem with two other mail accounts. It's just verizon that I seem to have issues with. The mail program is mac Mail 3.5 that I am using. Any other suggestions by tech support or anyone is appreciated. Thanks

ok - just to verify..

In acct information

- Acct type is pop

- email address is there

- incoming mail server is incoming.verizon.net

-username is yourusername@verizon.net

-password is there (you might want to go to webmail.verizon.net to make sure the password is right)

-outgoing mail server smtp is outgoing.verizon.net

-use only this acct is checked

- drop it down

- go to edit server list

- click advanced

- server port is 25

- authentication is password

-username is yourusername@verizon.net

-password is there

USE SECURE SOCKETS LAYER SHOULD NOT BE CHECKED

in acct info screen for inbox

-click advanced

-enable this acct and include when checking for new mail are checked

-port is 110

-authentication is password

- again, use SSL is not checked

If that doesn't work when u send/recv, make sure u can actually send/rcv on Verizon's website
