I need to get a port open on my router....HOW ??

logon to the router at 192.168.1.1

select firewal settings

select port forwarding

select new entry - the green plus + sign

specify the ip address whre you want to forward the port/s to

under protocols select user defined

make up a service name

select add under protocol ports

select protocol e.g. tcp

leave source port as any

make destination port single or rang

enter the port value

hit ok

hit ok

hit ok

macke sure it is checked as active

I have the info that this gave me..HOWEVER it asks for a user name and password...i put in the info according to what i rcvd for password etc...password puts MULTIPLE letters into it as i type and won't let me complete it..any more ideas for me ??

That's supposedly a "security feaure" to prevent shoulder surfers from seeing you password length.

Just ignore the extra dots.
