APRIL 27 NEW! YOUTUBE & IHEARTRADIO ON FIOS!

Verizon FiOS TV Boosts Internet Content
Brings YouTube to living room TVs
By Glen Dickson -- Broadcasting & Cable, 4/27/2010 3:01:00 AM
Telco Verizon has enhanced the online content features of its FiOS TV pay-TV service by providing direct access to Web videos from YouTube through subscribers' remote controls. Verizon is also integrating Internet Radio programming, from the Clear Channel portal iheartradio.com, into the FiOS TV service.

The new capabilities are being made available Tuesday (Apr. 27) to subscribers with high-definition set-tops, which have the processing power necessary for the YouTube application.

EDIT: Nevermind THIS IS A HUGE FAIL It's just a **bleep** update to "media manager"

"Instead, the YouTube and Internet Radio content is driven by Verizon's Media Manager software, which is loaded onto a Windows-based PC or laptop within the home network that Verizon creates as part of a typical FiOS TV installation."

The "iHeartRadio" looks like it is STB controlled/feature.

"Like the Internet Video feature, the Internet Radio service can be controlled via a smartphone through Verizon's "Mobile Remote" feature. Mobile Remote allows a Wi-Fi-capable smartphone to communicate with the FiOS TV set-top through the home network, and provides a user interface with essentially the same functionality as a standard remote."

Re: APRIL 27 NEW! YOUTUBE & IHEARTRADIO ON FIOS!

Can someone please explain to me why these functions don't work with MAC's. It seems so many times us MAC users are left out in the cold with these applications which is unfair. We get charged the same prices but get less service. This wasn't as much of an issue before when Verizon was paying attention to the HD marketplace and actively adding HD services, but as we all have noted, HD is now a back-burner issue to be replaced by these silly Widget additions.

If this is the path Verizon is taking with the service, they need to be inclusive of all of us.

I don't even know how half of these dumb widgets are supposed to work.  Nothing seems to click via my laptop...am I supposed to buy something else for YouTube and other Internet junk to work?  Y'know...I don't really care either..  I'd say dump most of  those widgets and add BBC-HD!!..

You don't have to buy anything.

You use the Media Manager software on your PC to add videos/music/photos. Then using any HD or HD DVR STb you can access them on your TV including iheartradio and youtube.

Think of Media Manager as iTunes.

Hey did you put the video into media manager if you did you have to delete it from the media manager to get rid of it.
