Al Jazeera English & NHK World Officially Added

Verizon fios has just added al jazeera english to their guide where it is listed as WRNN Rise where it is a part of the Rise Network that is broadcast in the new york and new jersey area as people in the tri-state area will now be able to watch one of the world's most popular channels which is al jazeera englsh where that channel is on the guide on channel 481. Another channel that was added is NHK World which is another popular world news channel that is in english that is about american and japanese news where that channel has been added at channel 482. Now while the schedule that verizon has for channel 481 from what i can tell is right the one that is up for channel 482 does not match at all. Another problem with those channels is that neither one of them has a logo for them so for people who scroll through the guide they will not know what those channels are.

I came to post this info, but was beaten to the punch.

There are logos .... but for now, the 2 channels have to be manually inputed,  They just have not been added to the guide, as of 10:30pm edst.

Re: Al Jazeera English & NHK World Officially Added

Thanks, everybody.  Somehow, I missed reading this here, but today I received a message from Al Jazeera (because I'd signed up to receive notice).

I wish that Verizon would notify us about new channels or deleted channels.  I'm going to post this as a new idea.

I also discovered these two new channels after a friend with Time Warner told me he started to get NHK World - then I did a search through the online channel guides and finally found it as well as Al Jazeera.....no notice from Verizon at all....

Re: Al Jazeera English & NHK World Officially Added

For those of you interested in Current TV and/or Al Jazeera English,  I just heard this on CNN: Al Jazeera is acquiring Current TV.

I read that it will be a different station from Al Jazeera English and be based in NYC.  Also,  Current's present programming will end this spring.

I assume it will continue on 192, Current's current channel .

Read about it here: http://money.cnn.com/2013/01/03/news/al-jazeera-current/

And there's more here:

Re: Al Jazeera English & NHK World Officially Added

Thanks for the info.  If Al Jezeera continues CURRENT TV programming that gives Al Gore a platform in this country (and Verizon carries that programming) for the purpose of propagating "Inconvenient Lies" (as supported by bad science)  there will be more than a few people who will gladly move to another data carrier as a message to Verizon that it is still not welcome here.  He has the right to his opinion but I do not have to accept it or pay for it.

To the Verizon Board :  Please note that it's not about the principle of free speech - it's about people not wanting to Pay for his free speech or ideas. Many people do not want his low-rated programming in this country.  Please do not support it by carrying it.
