I want to be able to watch all available SEC games, I can switch back to Comast Xfinity if I have to, they are offering it to their customers.  This should also be a free channel, not one to pay extra for.  I pay enough each month that I should get EVERY channel that is offered!

The "free" part ain't gonna happen. The channels are not free, Verizon has to pay a per subscriber fee for almost every channel, and the SEC channel is no exception (from what I have read it's around $1.30 per subscriber, making it one of most expensive channels, more than BTN, LN, PAC12 etc.). When it is added (and I do think it will) it most certainly will be in the higher tiers (i.e. Ultimate) and part of the Sports Package. I would not expect to see it in the Prime, Select or Extreme tiers.

By my screen name, you can see my allegiance to my SEC team.

I prefer to stay with FIOS, and don't mind paying a reasonable surcharge for the SEC network, but I am not married to FIOS. If FIOS does not carry the SEC network, I am prepared to switch providers and will not hesitate to pay the early cancellation fee to leave FIOS for a provider that does carry the SEC network.

It was announced today that Charter has agreed to carry the SEC Network, leaving Fios at the ONLY major provider that has not agreed to offer it. This is ridiculous!!!! Come on Verizon get on board like every other major cable provider has!!!

Definitly need the SEC Network.  It's something I would watch all the time.

Disconnecting from FIOS tomorrow if no SEC network news. I can't afford to wait any longer. Any kind of public update would be helpful.

I think at this point Verizon is in negotiations to carry the SEC Network-they HAVE to be. Surely they cannot be the only cable provider to not have been???

I just wish they would at least come out and say something-at least let your customers know something!!!

Actually DirecTV has not signed on yet. But it is expected that they will. Fios really  isn't considered a major provider in the TV  business. In sports language they would be a mid major.

OK so once DIRECTV signs on then Verizon will be the only provider that has not. And I know they aren't a huge provider but AT&T U-VERSE isn't either and they are offering it. I realize they are more visible in the SEC footprint than Fios, however the charge for out of footprint customers is only .25 cents per customer.

I wonder if Verizon has woefully taken the wrong lesson from their failure to carry the PAC 12 network.

They likely saw little/no exodus of subscribers because, well, nobody on the east coast cares about left coast football.  The PAC 12 network has had maybe one game ever involving two ranked teams and they run a good chunk of their games starting at 10:00 pm eastern and there's no way I'm watching that anyway.

The SEC network is different.  For one thing, the SEC's bench of watchable games is a lot deeper than the PAC 12's.  But also, the PAC 12 Network only gets games that Fox network, FoxSports1, and ESPN all passed on.  So unless there's just a whole lot of really good football games one weekend or something, the PAC 12 Network is showing the games that aren't even fit for ESPN Ocho.  If you're not a fan of one of the two schools, you don't care.  It's kinda like Wake Forest/UVA game of the week Raycom - nobody cares.

The SEC Network, on the other hand, is owned by ESPN and so ESPN is doing the same trick they did with ESPN2 and ESPNU to force cable providers to pick them up - they're putting key games that people actually want to see on the SEC Network.

So my speculation/random musing is that I wonder if Verizon took the lesson from people not caring about the PAC 12 Network and they are incorrectly applying that lesson to the SEC network.

I haven't decided for sure that I'm gone if FIOS doesn't pick up the SEC Network, but I'm certainly leaning in that direction.  And to buy the same plan from Cox is going to be $10 more expensive.

I just priced out a package with Cox.  It's basically the same as what I'm paying FIOS now and I would get the SEC Network with it.  (And they can install before football season starts.)  I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger and switching.

The irony is the original reason I switched to FIOS was for the superior sports coverage.  But in the few years that we have had competition in my area, Cox has drastically improved their offerings and FIOS has not.
