Another channel that I have been waiting for that Comcast has as well as Uverse is Funimation HD.  They took away the SD channel they can at least give us the HD version.

I left Comcast for Fios specifically for the FUNimation channel.  We had to sign up for a higher priced HD programming tier just to get the SD feed.  When I called to renew my contract I questioned the sales rep about this.  He said that he didn't know anything about  HD conversions but he assured me that we would not lose anything that we were already receiving.  After I renewed my contract they removed the SD channel.  I was patient with the problems with  MSG HD because I understood the issues with Cablevision.  However, the issues with FUNimation HD or SD are inexcusable.  Lying to their customers about availability to sucker them into long term contracts, then suddenly removing it  with another lie about lack of viewership.  Activity on the forums on this topic dwarfs everything else.  It seems to me. with all their bragging about the technological advantages of their system that bandwidth should not be a problem.  Unfortunately Russ, Uverse is not available in my area, and Comcast does NOT currently carry the 24/7 channel.

Re: WHY Hasn't There Been Any New HD Channels Added Lately?

So THIS is what Verizon decides to add???  RLTV HD???  Who the heck asked for this??

RLTV to Launch HD Channel

Washington, D.C. (May 24, 2012) -- RLTV, the channel that caters to the 50 Plus audience, announced yesterday that it will launch a High-Definition simulcast channel by December.

RLTV, which is now carried by Comcast and Verizon, says the HD channel will be available in "all of the network's current markets by December 2012."

"With RLTVHD, Generation 50+ will be able to watch their favorite shows with greater clarity and depth, enhancing the overall viewing experience," said Patrick Baldwin, RLTV senior vice president. "RLTV strives to deliver the best shows in the highest quality to the 100 million Americans over the age of 50."

The channel says that most of its shows are already produced in high-def. RLTV's lineup consists of shows that strive to help older Americans cope with such issues as romance, fitness and health.

That sounds like a RLTV announcement.  I haven't seen a Verizon announcement.  Of course it may be that a number of HD channels might arrive by the end of the year, including RLTV.

I can point you to some other announcements from various channel providers saying they were coming to Verizon in HD, and they never did.

For those of you who are angry about verizon not having added any HD channels lately well their response is that they just added destination america tv on channel 668 where it is also available on channel 168 in SD. Destination america tv bills itself as being an unabashedly patiotic channel where it used to be called planet green but since no one watched that channel they decided to go with some different content and a different name rather than the save the planet theme that they had. Destination america is owned by the discovery channel and it features such shows as fast food mania, bbq pitstops and the united states of food.

Sorry to dsiappoint, but this is NOT a new channel nor is it a new HD add. It is simply a rebranding of the PLANET GREEN channel we have had all along.  Channel 668 has always been there. The channel had previously been known as Discovery Travel & Living, Discovery Home & Leisure, Discovery Home, and Planet Green.

Verizon FiOS, Univision Ink Far-Reaching Affiliate Pact Deal Includes Linear Renewals, Launch of Three New Cable Services, Multiplatform Authentication Rights Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 6/1/2012 7:55:00 PM

Continuing its 2012 distribution roll, Univision Communications has reached a comprehensive deal with Verizon FiOS covering the U.S. Spanish-language media leader's linear services, its trio of new cable networks and authentication rights across an array of services.

The multiyear agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, encompasses continued carriage of, and on-demand programming for, Univision's and TeleFutura's owned-and-operated broadcast stations; the network feeds of Univision and TeleFutura; the distribution of the cable network Galavisión; and launches for Univision's new cable service, sports network Univision Deportes, telenovelas network Univision tlnovelas and FOROtv, a Spanish-language news network.

The FiOS pact is Univision's third far-reaching affiliate agreement in 2012. Dish Network and AT&T U-versereached deals with the media giant in January and May, respectively, for continued carriage and launches of new services. Under their agreements, both the No. 2 DBS company and the second-ranked video telco provider have rolled out or committed to launch Univision Deportes (Dish has an exclusive agreement for Deportes Dos this year), Univision tlnovelas and news service FOROtv.

The FiOS agreement also includes plans for multiplatform authentication rights for UVideos, Univision's upcoming digital video platform where viewers can interact with the best in Hispanic programming, including current shows from Univision's portfolio, as well as all of the existing networks and the new channels joining the FiOS TV lineup.

"We are excited to expand our relationship with Verizon as they recognize the growth potential with the exploding Hispanic demographic in this country," said Deanna Andaverde, senior vice president , distribution sales and marketing at Univision Communications, in announcing the affiliate agreement. "This deal speaks to Univision and Verizon's commitment to continue to deliver compelling and relevant content offerings to U.S. Hispanics."
Noted Ben Grad, director of content strategy and acquisition for Verizon: "As the country's leading provider of Spanish-language programming, we are committed to giving our customers the most robust package of such programming available today. We look forward to working with Univision Communications to ensure FiOS TV features the Spanish-language channels that are important to our customers."

You Should really consider going to another service provider, They aren't adding channels anymore instead they are cancelling great channels, like the funimation channel.  Their box and tv guide is the worst

Re: WHY Hasn't There Been Any New HD Channels Added Lately?

Verizon has added a lot of new hd channels it's just that those channels that have been added are channels that not everyone may watch. The MLB Extra Innings package had hd channels added to it and they have added at least a dozen channels in hd to the spanish package where they have a lot more that they are going to be adding soon. Sports channels and spanish channels get a lot of viewers for tv providers where verizon knows this so they will continue to add more hd to those packages very soon.

Not that many viewers want those channels.  Far more people want something like CARTOON-HD than some SPanish channel (the majority of viewers are still English-speaking.)    Personally. I don't care if they add 30 Spanish SD channels...as long as they provide the majority of their viewers with what they have been clamoring for. And so far, Verizon has NOT done that.  If Verizon want to become the Spanish provider, that's fine.  But if it continues, I think of many of us will get our HD elsewhere..
