Can I add an HD DVR to a room when I already have an HD Home Media DVR for the rest of the home?

I would understand if the non-Home Media DVR could not access the Home Media DVR in the family room....Man Indifferent

Yes.   You can't access the Home Media DVR from this DVR (or visa-versa), but you may have a home media DVR (linked to other STB's in the house) and as many other regular DVR's as you like.

To add to what Lasagna has said, if I am reading the subject line correctly you are going to place two DVR's in the same room? If that is correct, please be aware that the placement of those DVR's should be such that one remote doesn't try to control both DVR's.
