Connecting DVD to FIOS

I have had no success connecting my DVD player to the TV (FIOS through SD converter box). I've tried all manner of cable arrangements to no avail. FIOS "tech support" has no information whatsoever concerning the use of DVD. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks.

Success! And, as is so often the case, it was the simplest solution of all: the fabulous gold-plated colorstream video (yellow) cable was bupkis, so I used the red instead, hook edup a pair of RCA audio cables, and voila!

Rule #1: Never overlook the obvious.

Thanks to you all for your suggestions. Much appreciated.

When you say "SD converter box," do you mean the $3.99/month digital converter or the $5.99 SD set-top box?

In other words, does your box look like this (http://www.ioffer.com/img/item/154/802/692/Dsnz.jpg) or this (http://onlinehelp.verizon.net/consumer/bin/images/fios/fiostv/qip2500.gif)?

OK ... well this really has nothing to do with FiOS, but if you post the make/model of your TV, DVD, and the specific STB that you have, I am sure someone here can tell you exactly what to connect to what.

Wiring Diagrams The model, size, and color of your FiOS TV equipment may vary. To find the wiring diagrams for your Set-Top Box, DVR, or digital adapter, select  your specific equipment model below:

I checked this out at the outset and none of the diagrams make any provision for DVDs. This is a straight hookup (DVD to TV) that I have used before, but for some reason, I can't get a signal.

SD set top, 2500 series. I've hooked this specific DVD to this specific TV before with no problems. But now, I can't seem to make it work.

Thanks for the suggestion. Here goes:

STB: Motorola QIP 2500-3

TV: Toshiba 27AF44, Colorstream

DVD: Philips DVD795SA

Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you connected the DVD player to another TV to make sure it works?

Have you connected a known-to-be-working device to the input on your TV that you wish to use for the DVD player?

Connect to a TV, VCR, and DVD

it shows it for all of them,  so that is how you physically hook it up.

there are two ways really to hook this up.

you can either Bypass the Fios set top box, or you can chain them together.

most people keep them seperate.

To keep them seperate, it will look like this

wall power ->dvd player ->video out (use RCA cables, S Video, Component cables) -> TV (what slots you have open will vary depending on what is physically plugged into your TV today)

component cables will give you the best picture, but you have to have a free space on the back of your TV for component cables.     if you use component cables, remember that it's video only, and you'll need the red/white rca cables for your audio.

if you use Coax then you put it on channel 3 or 4

if you use RCA cables then it will probably be an input on your TV labeled as 'input 1 or video 1'

if you use component then it will be labeled as 'component'

after everything is hooked up, get a DVD in there and make sure your timer clock is moving and then try the different inputs that I described.

If you look at the wiring diagrams they will show you how to hook it up.

@You can also download the manual for your DVD player @ www.retrevo.com

they have wiring diagrams to.  I think your problem might not be physically hooking it up, but the inputs that I described above in bold.
