DVR Recordings disappeared from my DVR listing

There was an apparent Verizon Fios update yesterday in that my box shut off & rebooted while I was watching TV.  After the reboot, I realized that all of my recordings which were on the hard drive of my box had disappeared.  The recordings saved to my external drive were fine however.

I have completed an "In Home Agent" reboot, an "Auto-fix DVR Issue" check (and subsequent reboot) and done a "Soft Reboot" by shutting the box off, unplugging the cord, waiting 30 seconds and restarting the box.

Nothing has worked.

Is there anything else I can do? Or am I to resign myself to the fact that the recordings from my box hard drive lost forever?  I'd also like to know how I explain the lost movies to my 2 year old who keeps asking to watch "Finding Nemo" and "Cars" which were lost.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are having an issue with your Verizon service, you can use the Verizon Troubleshooter to fix and report issues with your Verizon Phone, FiOS TV, or Internet Service. You can also schedule a repair. Here is the link: http://www.verizon.com/repair

You can also find tools on the Verizon Residential Support page that may help you diagnose your issue: http://www22.verizon.com/residentialhelp
