I just installed a new 500GB DVR box today. (QIP7216 P2 500GB) However the hard drive in the unit is making a very high pitched squeaking/chirping noise and the fan constantly revs up and down.. After searching the internet for others who may have experienced the same problem, I found this YouTube video with the same exact problem.

Is this normal for this box or should I get it replaced? If this is normal operation then I don't want it.

Not normal unless you are keeping it enclosed so it can't vent off the heat. Suggested is at least 2" on sides and on top and in open air.

Thanks for that response. This is happening right out of the box with plently of room for airflow.
