DVR keeps rebooting!!!

Just switched from DTV to FIOS 3 days ago and am already buyers remorse.  The DVR randomly shuts down and turns back every few seconds, but only after it prompts us to turn on FIOS or press the MENU button.  I've called technical support 3 times: hung up once after being on hold for 20 minutes and was hung up on twice by the Verizon system.  So far, the online technical service has been anything but helpful.  About to pull my hair out!  Any similar problems out there or suggestions for repair?

The boxes will reboot themselves when they hit a certain temperature before overheating. Please make sure nothing is sitting directly ontop of it and it has atleast 3 inches breathing room on the top and sides. If  its still problematic, please send me a private message

Hi jwmullen, you don't happen to live in an area that has IMG 1.9, do you? What type of DVR do you have?

Check the obvious things like: Is the electrical outlet intermittant? (wiggle the plug around and see if the problem reappears). Do the same with the DVR end of the power cord. Make sure the cord is plugged fully into the socket on the back of the DVR. Move the DVR to another room and try to notice if it turns off there, even if it isn't connected to anything but power. If it happens in another room, it's probably defective.

This is an old thread I hope you guys get this.

I have a motorola 7232 (upgraded to it) and it randomly reboots several times a day and has done this since the first day I got it.  I never had a problem w/ my old 6000 box.

It's in a cabinet with no door and there's plenty of space above and to the sides so there is no heat issue.

I've touched it and it's not hot.

I've moved it to different outlets, plugged it into a UPS and power strips but none of that helped.

Power cord is tight on both ends.

Nothing else in my cabinet has this issue (receiver, PS3, TV, PC).

I called customer service and they sent me a new 7232 but it wouldn't register/program so I ended up send the new one back.

They sent a tech to my house but there was nothing he could do about the box itself.  He messed with the coax a little to clean up the signal and told me to plug the box directly into a wall outlet in case there was some sort of power issue.  Neither have helped.

It's running the 1.9 firmware.  I've searched the ineternet and saw something about 1.9 causing this issue?  1.9A is supposedly the fix for this?

Can anyone help me?  I will PM Anthony or someone else in a couple days if I don't hear from anyone.  Thanks!
