I had 2 new HD DVRs installed yesterday and am having trouble with 1 of them. I currently have 3 STBs in the house - 1 SD, 2 HD DVRs. 1 of the DVRs seems to be offline most of the time and I can't seem to figure out why. When I look in the system settings, it has an IP address of 0.0.0.0. Pulling it up in the admin panel of the router, I see both of the other STBs online, but this 1 is offline.
It has been online - but only a couple of times and seemingly for short periods. When I checked it at 1am, it was connected and fine. Later this morning, it's back offline. I've tried multiple times/combinations of rebooting both the DVR and the router, but neither of those has affected it. Doing that has actually never brought it back online. The times it has come back online, it has done so on its own. But then goes back offline at some point.
Faulty device? Something else going on?
I couldn't tell from your description if you have tried this, but I would swap out the two DVR's to see what happens. This might help you narrow down the possibilities to a specific DVR or possibly that specific wiring route.
Actually, I have not tried to swap the two around yet to see what happens.
Interestingly, the last 2 times I rebooted it, it now connects. But still does not remain connected for more than a few hours. I rebooted it last night and it came back online. This morning, back off. I rebooted it a couple of hours ago and at the moment is still online.
