FIOs DVR STUCK RECORDING

Not recording shows but the DVR itself is stuck recording constantly.  As soon as I hit power, it begins to record and hum constantly.

Any ways to fix this?

This is not a typical problem. I wouldn't waste time getting it replaced with a new one.

This is how a typical DVR works.  Both tuners buffer (record to the hard drive) up to 1 hour of the last channel tuned when not executing a user specified recording.  There is barely any power savings in turning off the DVR as it basically just shuts down the front panel LEDs.  Bottom line is a DVR is always on and always recording even when you turnit "off".

I just re-read the op's post and I mis-read it. This is exactly what it is doing.

thetoolshed, your dvr is fine. Now if it were recording actual shows by itself then that wouldn't be. Don't take my original advice. lol
