FiOS TV Remote DVR: Activation Failed for

I get this message after I tried to Activate it. I've been using remote DVR for sometime - however, today i get a pop-up on the website to activate. I do and I get this message emailed ot me:

Remote DVR is not supported on non-Verizon routers.
Remote DVR service works only with the Verizon supplied routers and with no changes to the original setup. Since you are using your own router and/or firewall setup we cannot enable Remote DVR on your account.

Guess what, a Verizon rep installed and configured the router they brought a number of years back. What gives?   Its frustrating that this type of situation occurs. I've had varied luck on the site, with many times the website not communicating with my devices, then days later it works.  Anyway, I can see the units on the web site -but not the features that allows me to remotely program and manage my devices. 

Please help!!!!!

Have you tried rebooting both the router and DVR? If not, do so. If you have or you do and the problem persists, then reset the router and reboot the DVR. If that doesnt fix it, you will have to call Fios Tech support.
