HD Channels with QAM Tuner and Digital Adapter

Hello,

I just got Fios Triple Play installed today to replace my Comcast service.  What a pleasant change 🙂  I received an HD adapter for our secondary TV which is a fairly new Samsung LCD with QAM tuner.   With Comcast, I simply plugged the cable in and received local HD channels.  WIth the Fios digital adapter I certainly receive much more channels however I no longer get locals in HD.  I tried even disconnecting the digial adapter and plugging straight in to let the QAM tuner try and pick up the local HD channels but I can't get anything on this TV now without the digital adapter.  Is this typical with Fios and this type of set-up?

Thanks,

epie

The digital adapter is not HD. It will only pick up SD channels. I don't know why your QAM tuner in the TV doesn't work though.

The 3.99 digital adapter won't get you any HD channels. But plugging the cable directly into your TV, if it has a QAM tuner, should get you local HDs (i.e. 7.1, 4.1, 5.1, etc. if you're in Boston) You may have to do a channel scan with your TV first.
