Been  having problems with box going to a channel when I switch from blue ray player back to cable.  Have to constantly reset box.  Last night watching TV and about an hour into the show BIG pop up message stating "Your HDCP authorization failed.  Please try ypfpr connection......"The message was longer but the screen then went black. Anyone else have this problem or something like it?

If I had to guess, it sounds like you may have a Samsung LCD TV. Regardless of make, the cable box and the TV are not seeing eye to eye as far as syncing.  In order to get them back in sync, you need to power cycle our cablebox, or use component cabling to our cable box. Sometimes turning of and on your TV will fix the issue too. HDCP is High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. Protection over HDMI so you cannot capture media and distribute. You can more info on that here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDCP

Thanks for the response.  The TV is a Pioneer Elite Kuro, and it's been working fine for over a year.  Just started having problems which makes me wonder if it is the box itself.  We use HDMI cables.

It could be an issue with the cabling.  I see a lot of faulty cables day in and day out. It's hard to say its an issue with the equipment at this point.

The HDCP error message happened to me also last night.  The verizon must have just activated it or something, as I have been running along fine with no changes in equipment for three months prior to this.  My cards are inserted into a TiVo HD DVR and quit working as a result.  Suggest yo call tech support and get hold of the cable card section.  Someone messed the pooch on thier end.  Don't try to fix your end if it ain't broke.

The Verizon router does the DHCP server work for the set-top-boxes, a very comprehensive re-set process would be to re-set the router (watch/wait for internet light to go from orange to green) then completely power-cycling the set-top-box/boxes having the issue.

I have a problem with my tv going black the sound still works but no picture. At first it would do this once a week then twice now as of today its gone black 5 times in the last 4 hours, after resetting the box for the 5th time called customer support and was asked what kind of tv I had, which is a Toshiba . then was asked if I was using the HDMI connection which I replied yes. The answer I received was I should use the red, blue, green cable. this answer is unacceptable. I don't know about anybody else but I think you get a better picture with the HDMI connection. I think there are MANY problems with the FIOS system and Verizon is trying to blame everything but their system. I was excited to get Fios after being with Brighthouse for the past 15 years . so far I am VERY disappointed in the Verizon and will be going back to BrightHouse if things don't improve .
