DVR keeps shutting recording off in mid-recording. The hard drive is not full as it has happened at 90% full several times. I deleted stuff off of the DVR so it was down to 78% full and it still is shutting recording off the recording in mid-recording. I receive an error message that states "The recording was abruptly shut off" or somehting like that. Please help....

I'm having the same issue with my HD DVR shutting down randomly. It has been happening for several months now and occurs every 10 minutes or so at times and other times only once or twice a day. I have spent hours on the phone with Verizon trying to resolve the situation. The first time I was told it was likely my HD cord. The girl said she was mailing me a new one. Well, what arrived in the mail was RCA jacks......not an HD cable. I decided to go out and purchase my own HD cable rather than go through another drawn out session with Verizon. The new HD cable plugged in and ready to go......within 2 hours, the box reset itself again. I called Verizon back to let them know the HD cable was not the issue. They said I needed a new box. I received the box and got it all setup hoping the problem was resolved. Again, within a few hours the box reset itself again. I have replaced the power strip thinking perhaps there was a short in one of the outlets......still resets itself. I have plugged the strip into a different outlet........still does it. My son even suggested maybe the remote control was malfunctioning and somehow sending a signal to shut it off so I removed the batteries from the remote and ...........still shutting off. What now? Should I try moving a non-HD box from another room into the LR and see if it shuts down? I'm getting very frustrated with the situation. Never once has the TV turned off or anything else that's plugged into the same strip........just the HD DVR box!

I'm sorry you are having difficulty. An agent with access to your account will reach out to you directly by email, private message in the Forums and/or the billing telephone number on your Verizon account for more information or to help you resolve your issue.

Here's something to consider. When I temporarily put my DVR on an outlet that has a small window A/C unit also, the DVR did strange things almost every time the A/C cycled on or off.

HMMMM, well I do have other things plugged into that outlet but no window AC. I can try unplugging everything except the TV and DVR and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the suggestion.

Once thing that causes the box to reboot on its own is over heating. The box shuts down briefly to give it a chance to cool down. Please make sure nothing is sitting directly on top of the box. The box needs atleast 2 inches of clearance on the top and sides.

It's in an open shelf like stand with about 8 inches above it and at least 6 inches on each side. It's not in an enclosed cabinet so there is plenty of breathing room.

Ok I understand. I have sent you a private message to get more information from you.

my LR DVR has also started to exhibit this behavior as of yesterday afternoon. I have reset it several times to no avail. Currently all lights on the front of the box are out. The other rooms are working fine. Anyone have any thoughts?

Have you made sure there is nothing sitting ontop of the box and it has adequate airflow?
