HD TV with SD STB

I was using an SD TV with an SD STB (QIP 2500-3).  I recently bought a Samsung HD TV.  Do I need to change any settings on the STB to use it with the HD TV?

Educated guess here is that you need to change the box.  The SD box changes the digital signal to SD so that your SD set could use it.  Now you have an HDTV and you need an HD box and to upgrade to that with VZ.  Talk to your VZ store if you have one.

You can check out what STB's verizon has available, if you simply google: FiOS HD set top box

You shouldn't need to change any settings to use the SD STB with an HD TV.  Though I would suggest changing the settings to match your TV.

The main thing to be aware of is that you will not get HD unless you upgrade to an HD STB.  It will cost more.  You can go to My Verizon and upgrade online if you want to do that.  Or if there is a Verizon store nearby, it might be quicker to do it there.  Just make sure they will take the old one in exchange so you don't have to pay shipping to return it.

You do not have to change boxes. You can still use a sd box with an hdtv. As walt said though, you wont be able to get any HD channels. With an hdtv its better to take advantage of it so I would recommend getting an hd box instead of the sd box. Just make sure you use a hdmi cable instead of composite if you do switch. Only way you'll get full 1080i.

Only way to get full 1080i (or 720P) with recent HD TV's.  Many others previously used Component and some DVI or even IEEE 1394(Firewire), all of which are supported on some Verizon boxes.
