Hi. 

Can I watch an HD recording on a HD STB thats connected to a standard tv (not hdtv).  Will it down convert the signal to SD.

Hi Mr_Bob, no you cannot watch a HD program on a SD TV.  The signal doesn't convert.

Incorrect! You most certainly can watch an HD program on an SD TV as long as the TV is connected to an HD STB. I know this for a fact as I did it for about a month when I first got FiOS TV, and seeing the HD channels, even on the SD TV, is what convinced me to go out and spend a bunch of money on an HD TV.
