Re: NBC Olympics Live Extra Sign In Problem

Try clearing your cookies and cache, and make sure you are inputting your verizon ACCOUNT userid and password, which may be different from you email userid and password.  I spent 111 minutes on the phone with Verizon this afternoon.  When I hung up, they hadn't fixed my problem, couldn't login using my userid and (reset) password, but at least they finally understood they had a problem and had a team on it.  After I hung up, I cleared my cookies and cache, tried it again and got in.  Don't know if Verizon has fixed the problem or if it was the cookies and/or cache.  Wish I had tried that before I got off the phone with them.  Good luck.

Is anyone feeling generous enough to lend me their login? I'm stuck in australia with the worst possible streaming and the nbc olympics site seems to be my only decent option to get in there.

{edited for privacy} if you'd be happy to help out :smileyhappy:

Re: NBC Olympics Live Extra Sign In Problem

I seem to be having a slightly different problem than what I've seen described so far.

I'm using Fios.  I've signed up successfully with an XP laptop and a Windows 7 laptop, and can view the streaming content on both just fine.  So no problems with wrong account, activation, or that kind of thing.  So I try to sign up with an XP desktop on the same LAN.  I select the Verizon logo from the box full of providers as I did for the other two PCs.  But then I never get the prompt to enter my username and password - I get to the same basic screen after selecting Verizon as I did on the other two, but instead of seeing the places to enter username and password over in the upper left of the large empty area on the right side of the screen, that area just stays blank - forever.  I've tried Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer.  I've cleared cache, browsing history, and cookies.  I've turned off pop-up blockers and disabled my firewall, but always get exactly the same behavior.  BTW I use the same personal firewall on all three systems, and the other two that had no problem did not require turning it off (or any other steps, the process worked just fine first time).

Anybody have any ideas?  I was thinking maybe there's a limit to the number of browsers you can enable for your account, but since I never even got prompted to enter my Verizon credentials, I don't see how that could be the problem!

Re: NBC Olympics Live Extra Sign In Problem

Sounds exctly like what mine did.  Do you have the internet option checked to "Delete browsing history on exit".  If so uncheck it

Re: NBC Olympics Live Extra Sign In Problem

Sorry you guys are having trouble with accessing the site. You need to make sure you are using Internet Explorer and a login that is associated with your FIOS account. If you have moved, transferred service, or changed names on the account then there is a chance the ID you are using is not associated properly to the account. You can try reactivating the id you are using at http://activatemyfios.verizon.net Also try clearing temp cache information out of Internet Explorer or run it without add ons incase something is interfering with the site. If you still need assistance, please reply back.

Do you have the internet option checked to "Delete browsing history on exit".  It is honored by current Flash no matter what browser you use, so don't think of it as just a Internet explorer option.  What apparently happens is NBCOlypics calls a verizon site and expects an authorization to be passed back in Flash's cache.  With that option set, Flash deletes it when leaving the Verizon site, and NBCOlypics doesn't see you as authorized.

Re: NBC Olympics Live Extra Sign In Problem

I am not going to rehash what others said, I am having the same problems.  I have tried all of the suggested fixes and none of them work.  this is an epic failure by both NBC and Verizon.

Re: NBC Olympics Live Extra Sign In Problem

I email NBC, thank god they were able to help. Below is the directions they told me too follow

The authentication process is done by your provider.

Steps 1 thru 5 fixed my problem

Try the following to see if there is a setting on your computer that is preventing you from authenticating:

1. Navigate your browser to: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html

2. Make sure "Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer" and "Store common Flash components to reduce download times" options are both checked.

3. Move the "Specify the amount of disk space..." slider to 100 KB.

4. Navigate your browser to: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html

5. Clear the Flash Player Cache by pushing the "Delete all sites" button.

6. Close your browser and then reopen your browser.

7. Start the verification process here: http://www.nbcolympics.com/liveextra/help/index.html

Great post.  The Flash setting changes fixed it for me.
