On-screen CID and remote access

Since the change to DST I have lost the on-screen CID and can no longer access my DVR remotely (through MYVERIZON site).  Have done the usual running the fix DVR issues, rebooting, and CID troubleshooter.

If I disable and re-enable CID I get a meassage that CID won't work with a D-Link router which is bogus since I have a REV I Actiontec and both functions worked perfectly up to a few days ago.  Guess VZ fouled up in something they updated.  Any additional ideas to try before I waste my time with phone support (actually will post on the DSLReports Verizon Direct Forum before I'd waste  time on the phone with some level 1 help that will only have me redo what I have already tried from their lame script).

Keyboards, did you do a router reset too?

I had the same problem with Caller ID, spent an hour on the phone with tech support (in Mexico), as a last resort they did a factory reset on my router (Actiontec Rev. I) and the problem disappeared. They did not ask if it was ok to do the factory reset, I of course lost all of my settings, not happy, but hopefully I have gotten them back. But apparently the solution to this problem is to do a factory reset on the router, we tried everything else first.

OK, so what do I have to do for a "factory reset"?  Is that holding the reset butoon and then having to reset all my wireless and other settings?  Or is just a router eboot acceptable?

I don't believe a reboot will work although I would try that first since no settings get lost doing that. If that doesn't work, all you should have to do is push the reset button I think. And then, as you say, redo all of your settings - I had login name and password, SSID (although amazingly that survived the reset), channel number (that survived the reset also, but my setting in the check box about keeping the channel number across restarts did not), N performance mode, DNS settings, WPA2 password. I think that was all I had to redo. One little interesting tidbit: since my customized login info was wiped, the name was set to admin but the password to 1234, which is not the factory default; I don't know what your password will be, but I think it will be the one on the router label.

For me, I think we went through every possible step on the TV, multiple times, and then they did the reset of the router themselves, they did not have me push the button. The rep claimed he asked for my permission to do that, I did not hear that question and did not give permission, but by then of course it was done and there was nothing I could do about it.

Anyway, it is now working again for me. Good luck!

you can save your config off prior to factory reset and then reload after reset.

I don't have access to my router right now, but I beleive it is under system menu.

I thought that was avaialble somewhere, unfortunately due to family illness issues haven't had time to try the solution(s) suggested - hopefully this weekend.

Thanks to all for the info and will post back with my results,

Well I tried just a reboot with no joy.  I then did a factory reset (after saving my configuration - pushing reset button).  The result was that the router stuck in COAX WAN and my ONT is configured for Ethernet WAN (and I want to keep it that way).  Left me without any Internet access.

At that point I reloaded my saved config, router was rebooted and my WAN was now on Etherent.  However, still can't access my DVR or get on-screen CID (but at least I have IP connectivity).

I did notice that I am now on DHCP not PPoE - don't know when that change at my CO happened and if it has anything to do with my issues.  Guess I need to post over on DSLReports unless there is some Verizon tech monitoring this thread that would care to enlighten me as to how to fix this (and yes I know this is a peer to peer forum).

Keyboards, one last thought:  Have you tried both disabling CID and Remote DVR and then re-enabling them?  I may have missed that in you post.  It might help.  If not, the Verizon Direct forum on DSL Reports or Twitter to @VerizonSupport is the way to go...

I'm suspecting the PPOE>>DHCP change may have messed up the Verizon database.

This happens about once every month or two for me. Same thing - lose CID and Remote Access (on only one of the DVRs though). Every time I just open a thread in the Verizon Direct forum at DSLReports and the Verizon techs there have it fixed within 24-48 hours. Don't know why it happens, but that's what gets it fixed.
