Verizon came out today, and the Cable Card in now installed in the Ceton.

Once the Ceton and Cable Card were finctional, I expereinced a PlayReady update error. I did try to troubleshoot it for a little bit, even using the MS ResetDRm tool. All to no avail, so I just wiped the drive and started over.

After all of the Windows updates, I then installed my Hauppague and Ceton drivers, and finally configured Media Center.

It is all working now.

Now onto CallerID in Media Center with tapirex.

I am having one issue I can not seem to get resolved.

Occasionally, it appears that Windows Media Center is losing it's channel map for the clear QAM channels. What I mean by that is that in the last couple of weeks I have seen the following:

Channels 11.1 (KTTV-HD) and 13.1 (KCOP-HD) were flipped.

Channels 7.1 (KABC-TV) and 9.1 (KCAL-HD) were flipped.

Channels 2.1 (KCBS-HD) and 28.1 (PBS-HD) were flipped.

I thought initially (prior to the Ceton card) that is was an issue with WMC and the Hauppague 1650. However, it also occured with the Ceton (where Ch. 502, which is KCBS-HD, would tune to PBS-HD (508)).

The only way I can fix it is to setup my TV Tuners again (a re-scan didn't work). Luckily, I was able to setup the TV Tuners during halftime of the Rose Bowl.

And advice?

Carl

p.s. It was so nice to have 5 tuners! I was able to record the Winter Classic on the 1650, and use the Ceton for recording the Kings Hockey game, and still watch/record whatever else I wanted to!!!!

Hi Carl,

Don't have anything to add about the channel swaps. It happens to me very rarely and not permanently (no need to rescan). Not more often than errors in the Vz guide. Do you have the guide set to update automatically or by demand?

I have gone another way yet in the PC tuner area. In addition to the two 1250 cards I have in the PC, I now have an HD-PVR 1212 connected between one DVR and the PC. Channels scanning was interesting to see both the regular channels (1-18xx) and the In-the-clear channel numbers XX.X appear in the guide. The XX.X ones are for the 1250 cards and the others are for the PVR adapter. I guess you see the same. I have no clue as to how the "scan" gave the channel numbers without changing channels on the Vz DVR box.(?? IR blaster wasn't even installed yet). I suppose it just slowly picked them out of the guide and wasn't a real scan after all. Anyway it works and now I can record anything the DVR can play, including on-demand programs. The IR blaster is a bit unreliable because it varies in time as to it's output, therefore being a few seconds late and causing occasional errors about "no channel" or "weak signal". But it doesn't stop the recordings, just annoying. What can I expect of a Beta version of their WMC extension?

The 1212 is labeled a recorder, but is of course not actually; it's just a converter/adapter/encoder for the DVR's component video/audio to the USB port on the PC. Of course it can be used to record from a Bluray player, but I haven't tried that yet.

Well now, CES seems to be giving life to Windows Media Center.

Ceton has announced the InfiniTV6, and a USB Version of the InfiniTV4.

SiliconDust's HD HomeRun Prime (3 tuner, network attached) has been seen, as well. Still in final certification stages at CableLabs.

Gateway Media Console, with an InfiniTV6 and Windows Embedded.

Just an update.

Effective today, I have returned my Verizon STB's and am full bore into Media Center and Extenders. The bedroom extender is the only wireless device on my 802.11n 5Ghz channel, and the living room extender is wired over MoCA.The Media Center PC is in the empty kid's room.

Now to tweak.

Well now here is a nuisance. There was an EAS test issued for San Bernardino and Riverside counties (California). It started at 8:06 AM PDT, and apparently run until 9:06AM PDT.

I have 2 issues with this.

1) I am in Orange County.

2) Why is this message going to stay on for one hour?
