Remote Code for Bluy-Ray

I have the Verizon remote RC144 and am trying to program it to operate with my Sony Blu-Ray player. Anyone have any codes or am I going to have to purchase a new remote?

Thanks

Brad

Re: Remote Code for Blu-Ray

You know you will never get full use of blu-ray with a universal remote. But on that, If you have tried the provided DVD codes from fios, I don't then they will work. Its a newer technology and not widely used yet. I don't think you will find one

Re: Remote Code for Bluy-Ray

Brad,

I don't believe the Verizon remote is a very good universal remote.  You may want to invest in a Logitech Harmony remote to control virtually everything in your home entertainment room.  They're expensive, but you can get something like the 880 model on amazon for cheap.  They even have refurbished units for around $75.  Pretty easy to set up!

I disagree with the "never get full use of blu-ray with a universal remote" contention.  It is possible that as of yet no universal remote has PRE-PROGRAMMED the complete set of Blu-ray commands, but most universals have some degree of "tailorability", either by obtaining upgrade codes from another source, either on line or via hacked programming (UEIC-manufactured One-for-All and OEM remotes programmable via JP1 interfaces come to mind), or learning capability (Many UEIC remotes, Harmonies and Prontos).

A good universal is essential to operating one's home theater effectively, and until the service providers step up and recognize that the remote is the key to usability of a system, their remotes will continue to be relegated to a drawer.  Come on now!  The FIOS remote is only capable of controlling FOUR components?  Let's see, my VCR, region-free DVD player, Laserdisc player, Receiver, Tape deck, turntable, Blu-ray player, TV, HD-DVD player (and yet to be added Media Center PC), and oh yeah, my FIOS box, is ELEVEN devices without breaking a sweat.  And each has unique content not available on any other platform.  It's amazing how many OEM remotes claim to be universal, but are so far short of the mark as to be worse than useless.
