FiOS TV Technical Assistance

My remote works for the TV.  It turns it on and off and controls the volume without a problem but it won't work with the DVR box.  It wont change channels or open the guide or anything.  Its probably an easy re-programming but I can't find any information on this. 

The troubleshooting portion of the site is utterly usuless.  It asks questions like"What to do if I am trying to use my remote but am pointing it in the wrong direction?"  Answer: "point it in the right direction" 

Are we serious with that.  Do people really ask questions like that?
