Saving recording when replacing STB

The Motorola HD DVR  STB has been cutting out and freezing, Verizon is sending a new one.

I have two short recordings of my grandchildren on news programs stored on the DVR which I am determined to save.

Tech support at Verizon basically said TOO BAD there isn't a way.  I'm sure there is.

I have a VCR available to the set is there a way to transfer these recordings to the vcr?

If so how would I do the wiring to make this work?

I don't believe my computer has the capability of doing this, but it may

any help is appreciated

Does the VCR have a "video" input?

Connect the video out and audio out from the STB to the video / audio input of the VCR  (what you see on the TV coming from the STB will be what is going to the video/audio inputs of the VCR).   Record -- input will probably need to be set to Aux or some similar setting on the VCR.

Optionally, if you have an RF (coax) output on the STB, connect it to the RF input on the VCR.  Same as above -- except you'll want to record channel 3 instead of the Aux input.
