Recently when starting a recorded show from the stb, the sound from live tv will continue to play, while the recorded show starts. It will after a few seconds, go to the sound of the recorded show, but then the sound alignment is way off. If I pause, and then start, it seems to correct itself. Also, the skip doesn't seem to work right either on a recorded show and I have to use the fast forward. This is happening on the stb when we watch a recorded show. The dvr [in another room] does not have these issues.
I have reset the stb and done the common fixes, but still having this annoying problem.

This sounds like a lip sync issue. Did you recently get a new tv or hook up the sound different? There is a hidden menu on the dvr for lip syc, but there's no sense in trying to fix this if the other box works fine. Best to swap it out for a new one as that will most likely solve the issue.
If you really want to see if it is in fact the dvr, take the dvr from your other tv, hook it up to the tv that you are having issues with. If it works fine then its the dvr that needs to be replaced.

Yes we do have a new tv on this stb, but had no problems up until a few days ago. I'm thinking it's the stb also since there are no issues with the dvr, or the other stb on a different tv.
You can switch a stb from one tv to another? lol... We rarely watch recorded shows on the one, so if I could do that until I get a new one that would help.

Yea you can switch dvr's to any tv you want. Its the easiest way to tell if the dvr is the issue. That's one benefit to having 2 dvr's at once.
If you have multi room dvr the settings will remain the same, will just be in different rooms.
Some newer tv's do have lip sync issues because of the processor in the tv having issues with the source coming in, but your case defiantly sounds like the dvr is the issue.

After talking to support, they agreed that it was probably the stb. So I just got the replacement today. Hooked it up, and it still does the same thing! So I'm getting a new remote now just to see if it's as simple as that?
This issue just started a week or so ago, and it's a new tv. Other than equipment, I'm at a loss as to what else it could be.

The remote wont fix anything. If the new stb is doing the same thing, then it could be your tv's processor. Have you switched the dvr with your other one and checked to see if it does it with that one as well?
How do you have the sound hooked up to the new tv? Are you just using an hdmi cable from the stb to the tv? Composite cables? digital coaxial or optical? Are you using a surround sound/stereo receiver?

Looks like it may be the TV after all. Both flat screens are Vizios, so to check to see if it was the remote, I used the remote from the TV that works fine on the one with the problem. Sure enough, does the same thing.
Still under warranty, we'll see how this goes.

A lot of tv's have lip sync issues these days so it is common. Its not always a faulty tv though. Its how the video source and sound is delivered to and processed by the tv. A lot of times, its just a matter of changing how the audio is hooked up.

We've only had the TV since Sept., seems odd that it just started about 2 weeks ago. And only when starting a recorded show off the dvr menu, and when skipping ahead. Hopefully they can offer a solution. Thanks for your help.
