Well I'm at my b/h's house (we both switched to fios and quite glad we did.) but her room's multi room dvr is acting so weird. First we got that code that was for billing issue (resolved with a stb restart) but since then the volume cuts out and I need to switch the channel from SD to HD. This happens about 10 mins into the program. Also this happens with recordings. This doesn't happen as frequent while in the hd channels but still happens. I know the TV is fine cause all I have to do is flip a channel and it works. Any idea what's going on? Its peeving me so much
thanks for all the help,
Chris

Try this...
There is a hidden setup menu that you can access.
Turn off the Set top box and press Select and then Menu.
On boxes with no select or menu buttons, on the remote press STB Power OFF then OK then Menu.
There will be a white screen and text menu called "user settings". Use your arrow keys to scroll down to "Additional HDMI Settings" and then press the right arrow to enter that menu. Go to the sound settings called "Audio Output". It should say Auto, so change it to "L-PCM". Back out of the menus and then turn the unit off and on again.

sorry for the delay, but i cant get to that menue. there is no menue and select on the box. so i tried the remote option you described and all it does is turn back on the stb. i turn off the stb (tv shuts off with it so i turn it back on) then i pressed the ok button and then menue. the stb just turns back on no menue. i tried both ok buttons and i also tried holding the ok and menue at the same time.
any other ideas how to get into the menue?
thanks for the help

that menu is accessed by powering off the box hitting ok and then menu. do it at about half a second between button presses. so have a picture before you do menu. also, that trick might not work on a cisco.
