I have a Sony non-HD TV and a QIP 6416 box.  How do I connect the two?

You connect the L and R audio to the TV's L and R audio  AV input.

Video goes into the TV's Video input, however your TV may support two kinds of SD video, Composite video, and S-Video. S-Video will generally give you a better picture.

The AV outputs on the 6416 are always on, and always in SD, so you can connect the video via either S-Video, or Composite Video.

In the event that your Sony SD TV supports 480i, you can also set the 6416 to output in 480i, and connect video via component video.

If you TV doesn't have AV inputs, you are out of luck. There is no Channel 3/4 output on the 6416.

If your TV has component inputs then using component and audio cables will give the best picture (and let you watch the HD channels even though you do not have an HD TV). If the TV does not have component inputs, then either an S-video or composite and audio connection.

Did the Verizon installer not connect the DVR to the TV? Should have. And you should have received an instruction booklet with the DVR, it contains connection diagrams for various scenarios, including yours.
