FiOS TV Technical Assistance

I've had FiOS TV for quite some time. When the technician came he quickly ran to the door when I asked him to help me program my DVD player and told me it was not compatible and not his priority.

Now (almost 3 years later not being able to use my DVD player), I bought a new BLu-Ray and cannot for the life of me figure out how to hook it up.

I AM WILLING TO PAY FOR VERIZON FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO COME OUT AND HOOK IT UP FOR ME and they refuse and continue to say it is not their responsibiity.

I don't have any friends who know how to do it and it's going on 3 years + that I've had to use my laptop to watch a DVD.

Why can't Verizon come out if I pay and hook it up for me????

Verizon does not install / set up non-Verizon equipment.

If you are willing to pay to have it configured, then try Geek Squad at Best Buy (but don't expect it to be cheap).

Basics are simple but specifics may be a problem.

Is there a Free HDMI connection on your set?.  Yes connect a HDMI cable to it and the back of your Blu-ray player.

Internet connections to your blu-ray depend on if your player has Wireless or not.  For wireless you need to know your SSID, security type (probably WEP)  and passkey or passphrase.  If you never changed these they are all on the sticker of your Verizon Router.

I have the HDMI cable and have connected it. It is not working. I understand the wireless part SSID etc. I have a wireless laptop working with my router.

It's the 8 or 9 cables that were connected (of course 1 being HDMI) that I don't know what needs to be done. The manual states the best way is to simply use 1 HDMI cable, turn on your TV and the menu screen should appear. THe TV comes on.

Once everything is hooked up, just select the proper input from the TV input menu. Remember, for HDMI there may be a few seconds while the HDMI protocol handshake takes place.

If you have a HDMI connection to TV then you shouldn't need any other connections between the TV and the Blu-ray player.

Do you have multiple HDMI connections on the player.  A few have a HDMi that carries video and audio and a second one that only does AUDIO.  The second one is designed so it can be connected to a AV Receiver.

What Blu-ray Player?  Some MAY require you to select which output to use.

This is resolved, found someone from work who came over and hooked it up. Working fine, thanks for all your feedback and suggestions.
