resetting set top box after renovation

I have recently had some home renovation in which my cable was re-routed to another part of the room.  I have just tried to plug my set top box back in and, while it powers up, I don't get any indication that it gets a signal--no time, no channels, etc.  What steps do I need to take to determine what my problem is and how to fix it?

Did you modify the cable at all?  Cut it to relocate it or remake the ends?  It sounds like the signal is not getting to the box.  Generally if your connections were good the STB will come up all by itself.
