We power off our television set and set top box when not watching. When powering it back on, the STB usually takes a long time to start up, sometimes for a few minutes, mostly because it is checking for updates. Is there a way to disable this update check?
Its not that it is checking for updates, its that after a power lose it has to do all sorts of things including a fsck (for DVR's) and download guide data.
THE BOXES ARE NOT MEANT TO BE REMOVED FROM POWER. Use they use a bunch of unnecessary power even when switched to "off"
