I just got off the phone with FIOS Tech Support who told me Verizon does not have an 802.11n router yet and no other router will work with FIOS. Anyone have any info on this?

The router that you get for free is NOT 802.11n compatible. it is 802.11g.

You can attach your own router to the verizon router yourself and use N.

Setup depends if you have FiOS TV or not and if not, if your router was hooked up coax or cat5.

If you don't have FiOS TV and your router is hooked up cat5, it's easy, just plug the ethernet jack to your N router and you're done, you don't have to use the Verizon Router.

if you have fios tv, plug a cable from one of the fios's router (not wan connection) to the wan connection of the n router.

If you do this first make sure you configure your 802.11n router to be using a different subnet to 192,168.1.x

Also keep in mind that the only time you will notice any sort of speed difference when using 802.11N is when moving files between PC's on your LAN.  If you have 25 or 35 meg download speed that is most speed you can connect to a website.  The bottleneck will be your Internet connection.

However, if you want to use the media manager software, you will have to plug in LAN to LAN and turn off dhcp on your wireless N router. Any of the Verizon software that interacts between your pc and the stb requires you to be on the same subnet.
