How can visiting friends link their computers to my wireless network when it is password-protected and I don't know what the password is?!

At the bottom of your router, there should be a sticker that shows your network name (SSID) as well as the password to your network (WEP Key). Give them those two pieces of information and they can connect to the network. If the sticker isn't there, tell us which router you're currently using and we can help you get the key or set a new one.

Logon to the router in admin mode and set thw wireless security yourself to whatever ssid and password and form of the security YOU like and then give that info to your friends

If you don't know how to logon to the router in admin mode push the reset to default button on the back of the router and hold for 10 seconds.

enter http://192.1687.1.1 in your browser and at the prompt enter admin as the userid and then choose a password of your choice.

Select the wireless tab at the top

select basic security

enter an ssid of your choice

select encyption method - I'd suggest wpa/2
See Step 6 write down your wireless settings

Select advanced security settings

select wpa/2

select your security, authentication type and encryptyion algorithm

I'd suggest wpa and wpa2, pre-shared key and aes

fill in the preshared key with whatever you want

Rember Step 6 and write down the key before you forget it

select apply

Give the ssid and pre-shared key to the people you want to allow access to.

Unless you have changed the Wireless Security on the FiOS router, you'll be using WEP to connect the LG Player.

The listed website for the router above has a typo. It should be http://192.168.1.1

Wep is the default for all but the latest Verizon modems'

However you should give real thought to switching to WPA2.  WEP security is essentially a broken security encryption.  The TKIP flavors are also somewhat broken so if given the choice you want WPA2-PSK(AES)

See the below verizon FAQ for the why and how to.
