Being told I must, must use Verizon's router. Haven't done so with FIOS in last ten years.

I've had FIOS a long time. I use a router that allows me to use Tomato, and it has always served me fine. They shipped me a router, and I put it on a shelf. Now I'm getting letters saying that I must install their router. Why?

Do any of you know why Verizon is saying we must use their router. I have had FIOS since it became available, perhaps 10 years. I have never used their equipment. After shipping me a new router, they now are sending me letters telling me I must install their router. Really?

Some services require the Actiontec router for full implementation, and some do not.  Which services rare you getting, and have you added new services lately?  TV? Internet? Phone?

I'm using plain vanilla internet. No phone, no TV.

Then there's no reason to change the router, assuming it meets your WAN, LAN, and wireless needs.
